Trawlers

I’m caught in the trawlers’ nets again.
Loops under my chin,
they drag me through the bioluminescent silt downtown.
I’m caught in the turbines’ churn and wake.
Down beneath the portholes and the draft line,
where meaning shakes.
I’m caught in the sun on deck again.
Throwing chairs into the lifeboats;
we’ll recline while our world ends
If I could be like that again I could and I may.
I could sit and watch the cars,
from down here in this strained, and still, fucking wordless place.
Through the foaming lights on the surface...
They say you’re the levitator -
so levitate over me
(Nick singing a part too)
You are not a poem you read to yourself,
you are not a character in your own story.
(Dan sings)
